Ranch Fire Breaks Out in Azusa

UPDATE -- The Ranch Fire blaze, which began about 1:30 p.m. near San Gabriel Canyon and Ranch roads, prompted Azusa police to announce the immediate evacuation of the Mountain Cove community.

BREAKING NEWS -- There's a wildfire burning about 20 to 25 acres in the hills north of Azusa Thursday afternoon.

The wildfire is burning in the San Gabriel Canyon area and it's moving uphill in steep terrain moving away from some houses.

There is thick black smoke in the area.

According to LA County Department of Fire on Twitter Thursday afternoon "Units on-scene reporting 1-2 acres in medium to heavy brush moving uphill. We are assisting.”
